I woke up as Ireland, a supporting character in some 18+ insect-world novel.
Ireland was a blond, blue-eyed female insect, a minor noble with mediocre abilities. At seventeen, he went to the capital planet to serve as a companion to a young male insect.
In the original story, the male insect protagonist, a human who had transmigrated into this world, won over countless female insects with his looks and his worldview, which was unlike that of insect society, and began a wonderful life with multiple female partners.
And Ireland was the protagonist’s first female consort.
Ireland: “...Screw that!”
Ireland’s favorite pastime was sitting at the observatory, watching the male insect lord paint while his mind wandered:
What a stupid society. What a stupid worldview. What a stupid male insect.
Early on after transmigrating, he vented his spiteful thoughts beside the male insect lord. “One insect marrying n wives? Isn’t that just being a two-timing, rotten cucumber?”
The male insect lord: “...”
“I earned all those military honors and made all that money, just to marry a lazy freeloader? Am I full of bug shit or what?”
The male insect lord: “...”
“I’d rather die out there, get eaten by alien beasts, anything! I’d never grovel at the feet of a male insect master!”
The male insect lord: “...”
He looked at Ireland, wanting to say something but stopping himself, and quietly clenched his fingers.
In the third year after leaving the capital planet, Ireland packed up and enrolled at the Empire’s top academy, determined to become a general.
At the academy, he would meet his future comrades. Together, they would roam the stars, place their trust in each other, drink and laugh freely, and become each other’s sword and shield on the battlefield.
In the first week of classes, a red-eyed, black-haired intersex insect knocked on his dorm room door.
Ireland, whose triple room was already full: “?”
The intersex insect had been admitted by special dispensation thanks to the best theoretical grades and the worst practical grades. Now he was sleeping on the dormitory floor.
Ireland often saw him grimacing at the cafeteria food, crashing his mecha and smashing himself up, studying by flashlight late into the night, or shivering with cold inside the dorm during a cold snap, yet still heading outside.
Then one day, the intersex insect, Luoxi, glared at him with blood-red eyes and said scornfully, “There’s nothing hard about becoming a female soldier.”
Ireland: “?”
His smile turned mysterious. “When I become a general, will you have a little romance with me?”
Ireland: “??”
*A native male insect who fell in love at first sight as a child after being emotionally manipulated, but doesn’t dare confess × a transmigrated female insect who only wants to build a career and constantly says ridiculous things
*My take on insect society, a little old-school, with interstellar warfare.
*A touch of nonhuman elements, basically just wings.jpg
*We’re in space, for fuck’s sake. If we don’t go explore the cosmos, are we even human?!
Theme: True love means one-on-one
