Unrequited Longing

Gu Meng loved Shen Yao.

After graduation, they kept up their long-distance relationship for four whole years.

From Beicheng to Nancheng, 1,874 kilometers.

She had once braved the snow and spent a whole day and night on a train to see him. He had once driven for two days and two nights to visit her.

A thick stack of faded train tickets stood in her heart like specimens.

Later, Gu Meng asked to break up.

There was no other reason. Since they were destined not to be together, she shouldn't hold him back.

He was silent for a moment, then said okay.

Three years later, Shen Yao finally came to Nancheng, bringing a beautiful woman with him to Gu Meng's jewelry shop to have a ring made.

Gu Meng dug her nails into her palm and smiled. "I'm sorry, but I'm fully booked for the next six months."

Shen Yao looked at her with deep-set eyes. "Could you do me a favor? She really likes your designs."

Only later did Gu Meng learn that he had prepared the ring for her.

He said, "I can't be with anyone else. I can't even bring myself to try.

Because when it comes to you, I still can't accept how things ended."
