After the Possession Failed, My Inner Demon Wouldn't Leave

[Self-pairing, inner demon x original self]

Jiang Xun, a famously sickly weakling in the cultivation world, was frail and constantly out of breath. His family cherished him like a precious treasure.

One day, after falling unconscious, he discovered that he was living inside a book.

In the book, he would be possessed by his inner demon after an accident, becoming cold and ruthless, with no desires or emotions. He would spend all his time causing trouble for the protagonists, but after picking the wrong fight, he would bring about his family's destruction.

Jiang Xun, whose only goal in life was to lie flat: ?

To keep the story's ending from coming true, Jiang Xun stayed on guard for signs of his inner demon.

When blood mist churned in his sea of consciousness, he stayed up all night copying scriptures.

When trapped in nightmares in the middle of the night, he told stories to the air.

But no matter how hard he tried, his inner demon continued to grow stronger, showing signs of taking form.

Then one day, Jiang Xun saw his inner demon step out of his sea of consciousness and, desperate enough to try anything, threw a forced marriage pact at him, one that bound them to live and die together.

As the red thread wound around his wrist, Jiang Xun met the man's dangerous gaze. His voice was cool: "Are you doing this on purpose?"

As an inner demon, Jiang Wangchen wanted only to possess his original self and become steeped in wicked thoughts in this world.

His original self was kind and timid, yet liked to secretly watch him. He tried to reform him with ridiculous ideas and even hoped to bind him with a marriage pact.

At first, Jiang Wangchen found it laughable.

Later, when he saw Jiang Xun about to go find the protagonist and copy scriptures again, Jiang Wangchen dragged him into his sea of consciousness and pulled him into his arms, leaving him trapped there in stunned surprise.

With the red cord wrapped around their fingers, he spoke softly: "I'll copy scriptures with you, and I'll tell you stories, too."

"We're bound by a marriage pact. You're not allowed to go find him."
