The seniors in the System Department all say that choosing a Host is the first step toward success. But after Pei Jian finished studying the plot, he'd rather help the handsome, tragic villain than the protagonist whose path was smooth sailing.
So he blew bubbles, picked up his jar of pearls, and secretly changed his preferred Host after submitting the choice to the main System.
He Guizhou, the villain in the story, was especially difficult to get along with. Pei Jian did his homework so he could help him grow strong and succeed.
When He Guizhou was cornered and bullied in an alley, Pei Jian climbed over the wall, hopped on his electric scooter, and rushed to rescue him.
When he learned He Guizhou was having money problems, he sneaked pearls into his pocket while he was napping.
The little mermaid always thought he'd done a great job teaching He Guizhou to love. He Guizhou wasn't as obsessive and frightening as he was in the original story, either. Instead, he liked rolling up his sleeves to help count the little mermaid's pearls, patiently accompanying him to the amusement park to fish for little fish, ignoring the protagonist and the plot, and even spending several days tutoring him.
So when Pei Jian read the original story's description of He Guizhou again, he looked at the man wearing an apron in the kitchen and, fiercely protective, called the main System to report the plot for slander and fraud.
[He's not bad at all. He's making dessert for me right now. He Guizhou is good, the plot is bad!]
Then one day, after he cadged a meal from the protagonist, he saw He Guizhou standing at the street corner with an umbrella, gazing at him tenderly as soon as he stepped outside.
Then the next day, he got the terrible news that He Guizhou had smashed several plotlines in one go, crushed the protagonist's plot armor, dealt with a troublesome enemy, and cruelly cut off his sweets for a month.
He Guizhou had always been cold-hearted toward others. He was like that in his previous life, and even more so in this one.
Having long known how everything would unfold, he woke up back in his youth and methodically dealt with every obstacle in his way.
Until one day, He Guizhou put away the coldness in his eyes, held the mousse cake he'd just bought, and spent the whole morning waiting at the street corner for the fish who'd run up to him as soon as he entered the small world.
Then he spent a lifetime treating him well.
