Until one day, he clings to Tighnari and begs to sleep with him. Tighnari agrees only after making him promise over and over not to burn the blankets, the mattress, or anything else in the house.

Douglas hears Wriothesley say to the Traveler, "...It's too pitiful for kittens and puppies to live somewhere without sunlight. Better not to do it."

He laughs uproariously beside him, slinging an arm around Wriothesley's shoulder as he mocks him: "...My great Duke, and yet you were willing to imprison me in this dark, sunless place?"

Back in the office, Wriothesley pins the incorporeal spirit against the door. A slight smile tugs at his lips. "Doug, wasn't it you who chose to stay here?"

Douglas embraces Wriothesley, the only human he can touch. "Yes, my Duke. I chose to stay here of my own free will."
