The Wu people, who live deep in the mountains and forests, set out down the mountain with their attendant, Mu Xin, so that Wu could reunite with his birth father, Suo Lin. They unexpectedly get caught up in the political intrigues of the Demon Kingdom.
Content warnings:
1. This volume has little connection to Volume 1, and takes place 20 years after its events. The setting is somewhat complex. If anything seems abrupt when reading this story on its own, just remember that this is a "modern alternate dynasty in 2040."
2. The overall tone is sweet and lighthearted, with no angst.
3. The protagonists never have a moment in the spotlight. Their talents, intelligence, physical abilities, and capabilities are all average. The Divine Realm series is one long ensemble story, and no character undergoes a transformation within any single volume.
4. For ease of reading, the Divine Realm setting is outlined again below.
Setting:
1. Talent system: For all races except humans and mixed-bloods, a spirit seer can determine their talent. Except for rare talents, the other ranks of talent are roughly what the word "talent" suggests.
2. Most Divine folk, except humans and mixed-bloods, live for 3,000 to 4,000 years and mature slowly. At 150, they look like humans aged 15 to 20. After 200, their appearance changes more gradually. After 3,000, they enter old age and slowly deteriorate until death. Their bodies vanish after death, and their souls return to the Ghost Realm. Human bodies do not vanish after death, but their souls also go to the Ghost Realm.
3. The seven races have different blood colors. Humans and vampires have red blood, demons have black, elves have blue, giants have green, space-time folk have clear blood, and the demon beast race has blood of every color.
4. Interbreeding between races is scorned by the Divine folk and considered a low-status bloodline.
