You, named Love, start playing a game called Beast Simulator. The game has a vast map, a wide variety of characters, and highly realistic details. Your only main quest as a player is to increase your "Ascension" by any means necessary. Reach 100% Ascension to beat the game.

When players create their first character, the game randomly assigns them a key attribute that carries over to all their future characters. A big part of the fun is exploring the game and continually leveling up this attribute to improve your stats. They say that once both Ascension and the attribute reach their maximum levels, players will unlock a special hidden ending.

So far, the hidden ending unlock rate is 0%.

Looking for a way to kill time, you enter the game and draw "Love" as your key attribute.

When you open your eyes again, you're a girl in the Nara period, fleeing from enemies who are hunting you down. With you on the run is the reason you were forced to flee in the first place: your younger sister Tengen, a girl with an immortality technique, whose flesh and blood are rumored to grant eternal life.

You look at your "monk's meat" little sister, trembling in your arms like a small animal, then at the big "Romanceable" label beside her affection meter, and fall into deep thought.

You: A high degree of freedom is nice, but isn't this a bit too much? Would this even get approved?

You consider yourself a person with normal values, so you quietly ignore the affection panel. Along the way, you pick up Ajuan, a girl with a similarly tragic past, meet all sorts of demons and sorcerers, and, with their help, perform one great deed after another, rise through the ranks, and start heading for the top.

You: ...So after all I've done, why has my "Ascension" only gone up by 1%? At this rate, when will I ever beat the game?

At last, in the midst of your frustration, you make an unexpected discovery: increasing other people's affection for you can strengthen your key attribute. The more "forbidden" the person's identity, the faster all your stats rise, and the more Ascension you can ultimately gain.

The gazes of your sister and the others shift from affection, trust, and admiration to something dark and clinging. You watch your Ascension shoot up: "..."

Values? What are those? Do they taste better than Ascension?

After your corrupted sister takes over your body in the name of love, you happily fake your death and flee to the Heian period, taking your Ascension with you. This time, you're Ai Otsutsuki, a fifteen-year-old noblewoman in Heian-kyo. As the chosen Star Plasma Vessel, you're sent to the immortal sorcerer named Tengen, serving her as a shrine maiden in name and a sacrifice in truth, until you "merge" with her.

You see your sister, wearing your body, cast that familiar look at you, and notice the stitch-faced shrine maiden beside her, who you've somehow seen before despite never having met her. You glance at the "Completed" label on the affection panel, then without hesitation use your sickly, nominal older brother to make your escape.

You: What use is a character I've already completed, someone I can't squeeze any more Ascension out of? Only an idiot would pick up chewed gum and chew it again.

This time, along the way, you pick up a four-armed, four-eyed boy abandoned as a monster, and a little girl with an ice-based technique and a knack for cooking. Seeing the characters' available Ascension, far higher than that of ordinary NPCs, you rejoice: Now that's the good stuff!

As expected, your story ends in tragedy once again. When you open your eyes, you've arrived in a certain ninja village. This time, you're Ai Otsutsuki, and the man who introduces himself as Orochimaru reaches out to you.

Reader's Guide:

1. As the blurb says, this is a Mary Sue story in which everyone loves the heroine so deeply that they go crazy with it, while she loves no one and only cares about beating the game and ascending. There are many victims, far more than those mentioned in the blurb, from all walks of life and of every gender and species.

2. The Nara and Heian periods in the blurb are the tutorial. They won't take up much space in the main story; they mostly explain why various thousand-year-old characters fall for the heroine. The main focus is on how all kinds of people after the tutorial are ruined by the heroine's powers. Important: If you can't accept your favorite character acting out of character and being toyed with by the heroine both emotionally and physically, you probably shouldn't read this. It really will mess you up!!!

3. The heroine is weak during the tutorial, but her cheat ability is powerful. For how much of this is true, see the title and the heroine's name. This story could also be called How the Third Beast Was Made, but, for tradition's sake, it will ultimately end with her failing to ascend in a way everyone can enjoy.
