Orchids for You

Rebellious vs. conventional

Someone like He Jingsui was carefree, debauched, and wild. He was never short of admirers and was always surrounded by people.

Chen Zhan, on the other hand, was quiet enough to be overlooked, yet had secretly loved him for years.

She would carry a book and deliberately pass his classroom. Sometimes, she'd see three or four girls gathered around him, with pretty princess-style hair and sexy miniskirts, chatting with him with bright smiles. He would often wear a nonchalant smile, his eyes making anyone he looked at feel as if he were in love with them.

When one girl boldly asked what kind of person he liked, he casually glanced over this way and joked with the others, his lips curving flirtatiously. "Someone like her."

That day, Chen Zhan fled in embarrassment.

She secretly wrote him a love letter, but it ended up in his friend's hands. His friend opened the envelope and told him it was another confession, but this time, the girl had heard him say he liked her. His friend asked if he remembered.

Chen Zhan hid not far behind them. She saw him smile, but his expression was especially dismissive. The sun was blazing that day, yet she felt as though she were standing in a frozen wasteland.

His words, "I don't remember. Throw it away for me," shattered all her hopes. She had tried with all her might to enter his world, only to suddenly realize that, to him, she wasn't even a passerby.

During the days they were in love, He Jingsui pampered her so much that everyone envied her. But one afternoon, Chen Zhan asked him to break up.

On that rainy day, the dim light hid his expression. Only his indifferent voice reached Chen Zhan's ears.

"Fine. If you want to break up, then we're breaking up."

They met again five years later, in a dim private room where it was hard to make anything out. He trapped her in a corner.

He slowly pried open her hand and took the plain ring from her palm, pressing closer with every step. "You said you didn't love me anymore. Why are you still keeping my things?"

His eyes reddened, and his voice was harsh and hoarse. "Chen Zhan, you're so cruel."

He looked as heartbroken as a child who'd lost his candy. "It's been five years. Have you ever thought about me?"
