A Tentacle Monster's Care Log

The world has been contaminated by alien species, and monsters roam the corners of the city.

On her way home from work, Guan Shuwan encountered a black blob with tiny tentacles.

The little tentacles weren't very bright. They clung to her shoes and played the victim, hoping she'd take them home.

It wasn't a containment creature, so it couldn't get a government paycheck. It was also absurdly weak, unable even to snatch nutrient solution from a trash can.

Looking at the black blob, which seemed like she could crush it with one finger, Guan Shuwan's heart softened.

Maybe she should adopt it?

It was kind of cute, after all.

After adopting the black blob, Guan Shuwan felt like her luck had somehow improved.

Her new boss was pleasant, her coworkers were friendly, and she never ran into danger on field assignments.

The only thing was, she now had the title of "local boss."

What a joke. She had to work hard all day, and at night... even the little tentacled creature at home went to bed after nine! How could anyone call that an exciting life?

Guan Shuwan was sure it was just a rumor.

One day, she went downstairs to buy a late-night snack and bumped into a black-haired young man beating the stuffing out of an alien creature and warning the neighbors not to tell anyone.

"What a coincidence," the young man said, gradually hiding his tentacles, looking thoroughly guilty. "I-I just came to help keep the city in order."

"Yeah, what a coincidence," Guan Shuwan replied expressionlessly. "So you're the local boss?"
