Mortal Enemy

He became famous at a young age, full of confidence and high spirits, but in the end he was left raving mad and reviled by everyone.

Jiang Yizhi collapsed on a deserted street. As he lay dying, he briefly regained his senses. He thought back on the past, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't understand how he'd ended up this way.

After a while, the leaves fell, and all was silent.

"Grandpa, there's someone over there."

"Sweetheart, you must be seeing things."

He didn't want to die yet.

Jiang Yizhi woke up, but had nowhere to go, like a stray dog.

At last, he thought of somewhere that might take him in.

"Well, where'd this beggar come from? Why's he collapsed in front of my house?" His former enemy recognized him and put on a smug, theatrical smile.

"I have nowhere else to go."

"Even if you have to live like a dog, you will live, and live well." In his dream, his master's gritted-teeth plea echoed in his ears. His master had taken all the blame upon himself before going to his death.

"Master, but I don't want to live anymore."

"Yizhi, be good." In his daze, Jiang Yizhi heard his master's voice once again... coming from the mouth of his mortal enemy.
