A Heartbeat in the Cold

*Next book coming soon

Lu Ming is the youngest general in the Empire, a prodigy in everyone's eyes. The most humiliating moment of his life was when a mole betrayed him and his mission failed.

In Lu Ming's memory, Amber was a blond, blue-eyed boy, always the quietest person in a crowd.

They meet again seven years later. After another mission fails, Lu Ming is stranded on an unfamiliar planet. Amber, now a grown Omega, is covered in blood and expressionlessly cuts through the thorns with a cold blade.

"The Empire sent me to rescue you."

For the first time, Lu Ming realizes that Amber is a very good liar.

Amber has had a crush on Lu Ming for ten years. Not even his friends know.

He replays news reports featuring Lu Ming over and over, and records Lu Ming's voice on an outdated cassette tape, using it in place of suppressants.

The day he signed up for the rescue mission, his former superior stared at him with a complicated look. "You might die if you take part in this operation."

He nodded silently, clutching the cassette tape.

Officially, 147 soldiers took part in the rescue. He was the only one who actually went.

He died after 1,200 days of secretly loving Lu Ming.

Cold flame is the lowest-temperature flame in the world. Its ice-blue fire burns slowly at a temperature too low to feel, until it is completely extinguished.

But in the end, that flame blazed into a raging fire. Its vapor rose to become clouds, and at last turned into an amber rain falling on Lu Ming's heart.

Note:

1. Amber also means amber.

2. Short story. Happy ending.
