Survival Rules for the Wasteland

[Wasteland laborer who just wants to survive x elite office worker and city administrator]

In a world inhabited by witches, mutants, demon hunters, and chip-enhanced people, society is divided into two districts: the Inner City and the Outer City.

The Outer City is a severely polluted wasteland. Its people use pollutants to cultivate all kinds of mutants, fight over energy, and contaminate the Inner City.

The Inner City has a Ninth District. Qu Xin, a sickly person, is brought there from the slums and learns to survive by the law of the jungle, working himself to the bone to earn money.

Qu Xin: I thought I'd get rich overnight once I got out, but I didn't expect to have to work off the cost of my meals. The guy who said he'd make me his boss actually wants my kidney. (Not really.)

Meanwhile, the Inner City, a sanctuary in a filthy world, is actually waiting to be brought down. Qu Xin thinks he's just scraping by, and doesn't even care if the world is destroyed.

It isn't until his contamination level maxes out and he reloads again and again that he realizes he has, without meaning to, tried to save this world more than once.

And the person saving the world alongside him is called Zhao You, a witch.

The witch himself, Zhao You: "Xiao Xin, I don't want to get promoted to the upper ranks."

Qu Xin: "Idiot. You're the only one capable of leading the Inner City."

Later, when the apocalypse arrives and contamination spreads everywhere, he finally understands that his seven trips in and out of the Outer City weren't a matter of chance. They were an inevitable choice.

Some people are born into privilege, while I, Qu Xin, actually chose to be a workhorse! (Crying)
