A Springtime Dawn

The Yongyi Grand Princess was deeply favored by the emperor, and her marriage to her consort was the envy of all.

Yet just one year after their wedding, her consort suddenly died of a grave illness. While everyone was lamenting his death, the Grand Princess petitioned the emperor, asking to marry Lu Yuzhi.

Their wedding day was the seventh day after her former consort's death.

The entire capital was in an uproar.

Lu Yuzhi had placed first in last year's imperial examinations and was now the emperor's most trusted civil official. He had joined the Censorate to oversee the officials.

He was incorruptible and a gentle gentleman, like the snow of early winter, untouched by a speck of dust. Even those who hated him could not help but respect him.

Everyone believed he would surely remain loyal to the emperor and serve the nation, earning an honored place in history.

But few knew that he had once knelt devoutly before the Grand Princess and spoken treasonous words with perfect clarity.

"For you, I would gladly become a traitor."
