Echoes of Kazan [Beijing Circle]

A calculating, powerful scion of Beijing's elite x a radiant Russian international student studying sculpture

Rumor has it the Li family's daughter was forced to break up with a rising male opera star?

Rumor has it Dong Shiyi, a powerful scion of Beijing's elite, was dumped by an actress?

If the Li family's insistence on marriage was a fate Li Wenli couldn't escape, then the day she dropped to her knees and proposed to him must have been the most humiliating day of Dong Shiyi's life.

After that day, the news spread through their entire social circle. Dong Shiyi went to the Li family to apologize, gracious and composed.

But Li's mother gently pushed aside the gifts he had brought. Her gaze was warm yet keen as she asked Dong Shiyi, "Have you ever considered that we've never had anyone else in mind for her to marry?"

Dong Shiyi understood, and his heart was thrown into turmoil.

Up in the attic, the girl in a white slip dress took advantage of Li's mother's distraction to pull him away. In the cramped attic, the two of them found themselves staring at each other.

Li Wenli studied his expression and cleared her throat. "Since the person you like dumped you, and we've known each other inside and out since childhood, will you accept my proposal?"

Dong Shiyi was dazed for a moment. Looking at her spoiled, domineering manner, he suddenly smiled and nodded.

Li Wenli breathed a sigh of relief.

The next day, they took their household registration booklets to the civil affairs bureau and registered their marriage.

The two little red booklets were thin and light, yet they bound the two of them together with ease.

But, my dear girl,

when will you finally see him?
