Daddy-Type Top and Adorable Bottom | Sweet Bedtime Read | Height and Build Difference | Comedic Shenanigans | Road Trip Story
"Earth has a history of 4.6 billion years. I only love the instant he looks my way."
1.
Mo Jie is a Chinese-Russian mixed-race guy whose mind is full of rocks and soil.
On a team-building hike, he lagged behind the group to pick up stones.
While everyone posed shoulder to shoulder for a photo at the summit, he crouched outside the frame to study a crack in the ground.
His coworkers admired the view from the top. He muttered under his breath, "This isn't a mountaintop at all. It's the seafloor from a hundred million years ago."
At a hot pot dinner, he sat in the corner looking up information.
While everyone raised their glasses and drank together, he stared at the bubbling beer and imagined it was magma.
When a coworker praised the frozen tofu in the curry pot as the tastiest thing there, he said, "These pores look just like the reservoir spaces in sandstone. They can hold water and oil!"
His coworkers gave him the look reserved for someone doomed to die alone. "What are you going to do? It doesn't matter how handsome you are! Is anyone ever going to like you?"
Yu Huai: Of course someone will.
2.
Yu Huai had lived with Mo Jie since they were children. They were closer than brothers, and every day Yu Huai felt both agony and joy.
Joy: Mo Jie thought of him as his best friend.
Agony: Mo Jie thought of him only as his best friend.
After years of secretly loving him, Yu Huai had discreetly gotten rid of countless people who had designs on Mo Jie. Everyone around them could see how Yu Huai felt, yet Mo Jie was still calling people his brothers.
Yu Huai gave him flowers, and Mo Jie said he needed a high-powered magnifying glass more.
Yu Huai kissed him, and Mo Jie thought Yu Huai was giving him a (Russian social custom) greeting kiss.
Yu Huai said, "You're the only one I have feelings for."
The confession hit him right in the face, but Mo Jie simply gave a cool snort. "No wonder you've been picking on me since we were kids."
Yu Huai asked what to call this relationship that had crossed the line. Mo Jie thought for a moment, then replied, "Using the hydrocarbon generation model, we're both in each other's high-maturity zone."
Yu Huai: 😧
3.
Mo Jie was acting a little strange today.
This guy, whose head was always full of rocks, actually asked, "I've found the best match between expulsion strength and migration efficiency. I want to submit a trap evaluation report. How can I get him to consider reviewing it?"
Coworker: "Speak human."
His advisor translated: "He wants to confess to someone."
Coworker: ???
Yu Huai: !!!
Wait,
how did this blockhead suddenly figure it out?

Blurb
Bayanbulak,
a stormy night of thunder and lightning.
Lin Yi was driving a Jeep, hurrying back to school to deliver textbooks to the children. As he passed a campsite, a motorcycle suddenly appeared and began chasing him.
The thunder was so loud that Lin Yi couldn't make out what the young man on the motorcycle was shouting. But judging by his rough, bandit-like air, he was probably trying to rob him.
So when the man flagged him down, Lin Yi gripped his butterfly knife. To his surprise, the man tapped on the window, then pressed his phone against the glass.
A sentence had been typed out on the screen in advance.
Could I have your contact information?
*
Northeast China,
a small town in the wake of a snowstorm.
The car Lin Yi had rented had frozen into an icy specimen, so he had to ask the rental company to send another one.
When he went to pick it up, he saw a man wearing a Lei Feng hat standing beside a black SUV. Sunglasses and a beard concealed most of the man's face, so Lin Yi couldn't get a good look at him. He could only say, "Sorry, sir, I've rented this car."
Before he had even finished speaking, the man in front of him visibly stiffened. He slowly turned around, his hand trembling slightly as he took off his sunglasses.
The instant their eyes met, both of them widened their eyes in unison.
"Lin Yi, "
When Du Minchun spoke, Lin Yi was even more astonished. They had only exchanged a fleeting glance on a rainy night five years ago and had never been in touch since. He hadn't expected the man to still remember his name.
"Could I have your contact information one more time?"
The handsome young man had a roguish, bandit-like air, and his ears turned red as he fumbled with the inner pocket of his leather coat. He pulled out a crumpled piece of paper he'd kept close to his heart. The rain had soaked the numbers until not one of them was legible.
"The rain was too heavy that day. I didn't protect it well."
[Bonus Scene]
Late at night, the Jeep parked by the river had been rocking on and off for hours without stopping. Curled up in Du Minchun's arms, Lin Yi trembled like a quail.
"...I really can't go on."
"You're giving up already?"
Du Minchun was like a bull plowing a field, head down and pounding away. "Is that all the skill Teacher Lin has?"
Vague voices drifted over, as though someone had come to fish by the river in the middle of the night. Lin Yi tensed up in an instant, his body curling in despite himself.
The bull abruptly stopped moving.
The car fell silent.
Lin Yi couldn't help letting out a little laugh. "Is that all the skill Colonel Du has?"
