[Naruto] Night Escape

It always seemed to be like this with her. He always gave her whatever she asked for, always opened the door and let her in, but never said a thing and never asked for anything. Part of her wondered whether he knew what he was about to face, or whether he thought she longed to escape and was simply indulging her by letting her run away without a fight. But reason told her that Kakashi Hatake knew what she was like. He believed she had already fought, and that was why she came to him. And if her fight had failed, he would help her escape just like this, even if it could be considered desertion.

It was strange, this intense feeling of being trusted and almost crazily protected. He had never seemed such a tolerant, blindly indulgent teacher. It was almost as if he had been waiting for this for a long time, and had finally fallen alongside her.

Reader advisory:

Set against the background of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, but I couldn't get through Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, so the setting is based entirely on plot I've heard about secondhand, plus original additions. Includes some fabricated and critical depictions of marital and parent-child relationships in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Spoilers for readers who may be uncomfortable with this kind of story: There is no affair, and the story does not encourage divorce. The relationship begins after the divorce.

Theme: People need to choose the life they want for themselves.
