The Frail Beauty Has Run Away

Shen Nian was a frail beauty who wasn't expected to live past eighteen. His family had already given up hope, but his childhood friend Xie Ye refused to accept fate. He personally fed Shen Nian medicine, helped him get dressed, and tied his shoes, pampering him like a wife for eighteen years.

After a serious illness, Shen Nian still collapsed in Xie Ye's arms. He almost died on the cold operating table and fell into a deep coma.

Xie Ye sought out every expert and renowned doctor he could find, but no one could help. Desperate, the man who had never believed in fate walked on his knees from a temple all the way to Tibet.

He ground his knees raw until they were bloody, all to pray for Shen Nian's safety.

Two years later, Shen Nian really did wake up.

He went to find Xie Ye as he always had, only to discover another man by his side whose looks were about seventy percent like his own. Xie Ye called that man his substitute.

Shen Nian realized Xie Ye's gaze no longer followed him. Xie Ye would break promises because of the substitute, forget Shen Nian's surgery date because of him, and even lay hands on Shen Nian for his sake.

Disappointed, Shen Nian chose to leave.

Xie Ye had pampered Shen Nian until he was eighteen, yet still watched him collapse right in front of him.

He walked on his knees all the way to Tibet and had a dream. In it, Shen Nian was merely a carefully crafted shell, created to house a conqueror who had retired from the quick transmigration bureau. That was why Shen Nian couldn't live past eighteen.

After waking, Xie Ye stopped at nothing to find a man who resembled Shen Yi.

To keep Shen Nian alive, he had no choice but to lure the conqueror to his side, pretend to be in a tragic romance with him, and keep him under control by force.

After all Xie Ye's push and pull, he looked back and realized that the wife he'd raised for eighteen years had long since run away.
