After Hearing My Nonhuman Boyfriend's Thoughts

Xi Bai is a handsome male college student.

Xi Bai has a secret: he can hear what ghosts are thinking.

One day, a new roommate moved into his place. As Xi Bai brushed past him, he heard the words, “Mm, it's him.”

Xi Bai turned around, but the other person hadn't said a thing.

Xi Bai: ?

Similar things happened several times, leaving Xi Bai baffled. His roommate was clearly human.

Xi Bai used his mind-reading ability to help many ghosts who had suffered injustice. He thought he had earned boundless merit and would live to a hundred, but on his twentieth birthday, someone claiming to be the Ghost King entered his dream...

The Ghost King said, “Your allotted years are up. Come with me to the underworld.”

Xi Bai heard something else. He blinked. “What did you just say you were worried I'd see through?”

Ghost King: ... (Oh shit, can he hear my thoughts? Does he know he isn't actually going to die yet, and that I'm lying to him?)

Xi Bai: “? You lied to me!”

Ghost King: !! (He really can hear me. Does he also know I like him?!)

Xi Bai: “You like me too?!”

Xi Bai woke up, and the Ghost King ran away. But whenever Xi Bai closed his eyes, all he could see was that handsome Ghost King, red-faced and fleeing in a cloud of black smoke.

Xi Bai, of course, was not interested in the Ghost King's “confession.”

He didn't want to date a ghost, and he wasn't ready to die either.

Soon, Xi Bai and his handsome, wealthy new roommate fell in love. Everything seemed perfectly normal, until one day, as he lay in his boyfriend's arms, he heard a voice mixed in with the steady beat of his heart:

“Has he still not figured out I'm the Ghost King?”

Xi Bai looked up: ?

His boyfriend, Gu Chi, noticed his gaze and gently lowered his head. “Are you hungry? Should I make us something to eat?”

Xi Bai narrowed his eyes.

Don't pretend. I heard you!
