Becoming the Frail Wife of a Period-Novel Tycoon

Blurb: Twenty-year-old Jiang Yuan wakes up one day and transmigrates into a book. She becomes the stepmother of the female supporting character, who dies young. The supporting character, Lu Miao, is the daughter her husband adopted years ago. She has had a crush on the male lead, who lives in the neighboring compound, since she was little. To follow him, she secretly signs up for a program sending young people to the countryside. The girl, who grew up pampered by her family, suffers terribly in the countryside. After the male and female leads officially become a couple, she can't take it and runs out one night. A thug from the neighboring village assaults her, and in the end, unable to endure the humiliation, she jumps into a river and dies at just eighteen. The original owner's situation isn't much better. She's frail and sickly, unloved by her parents and neglected by her husband, practically invisible. The original owner's husband, Lu Shengrang, is 32, a business tycoon who is busy with work and rarely comes home. But Jiang Yuan is too focused on staying alive to worry about any of that for now. Her body gets dizzy and light-headed and her chest feels tight after walking just a few steps. She's not far from death. So Jiang Yuan orders the kitchen to serve her a different nourishing soup every day. Black-boned chicken and chestnut soup, turtle soup with mushrooms and seafood, carp soup with red dates and black beans... She also takes the opportunity to give her stepdaughter a little makeover, both mentally and physically. Watching the number on the scale climb higher and higher, Lu Miao has no time to chase after the male lead anymore. She complains to Lu Shengrang: "Dad, the woman you married is too much! She actually wants to make me fat! Can you do something about her? Who makes nourishing soup every other day?" Lu Shengrang, who is forced to drink nourishing soup every day too, is suffering just as much. He looks down, and two streams of warm nosebleed slowly trickle out. Lu Shengrang: ... I really should do something. If I keep drinking this stuff, I won't be able to take it much longer either. Reader's Note: This story is set in a fictional world and includes many original details.
