Come True

Before the autumn rain hit the ground, Cheng Zhen set foot on a piece of land.

Chaotic, messy, disorderly.

It wasn't a good place, and Cheng Zhen wasn't a good person.

Sirens ripped through the curtain of rain as they whizzed by.

Cheng Zhen met a good person.

·

Jiang Junhe had graduated from police academy just six months earlier. His mentor had taught him that he shouldn't feel sympathy or anger toward the criminals he arrested, and that he shouldn't empathize with them.

But after seeing all kinds of criminals, he met for the first time a young man who was even less worldly than he was.

Cheng Zhen had simply been born in the wrong place and raised in the wrong environment. He should have been a good kid, a very, very good kid.

He'd never had White Rabbit candy or Dali Garden pastries, and he'd never even had soda. All he dreamed of was owning a thick coat.

He'd seen corpses and witnessed violence. In lockup, disgusting hands had shamelessly crawled over the clean body of a young man.

He endured it. He accepted it. But he never hated anyone.

Tips (Major warnings!)

1. Bad ending! The kind where one lives and one dies.

2. The recipient is not sexually pure!

3. A story between a police officer and a criminal. If that bothers you, stop here!

4. This is a short story, and it may be rather depressing. I've been under a lot of pressure lately, so this is probably just something I wrote to unwind.
