Synopsis One
Strange things have been happening in Gotham lately.
People scream in the middle of the night, tormented by nightmares. An investigation reveals that all the victims seem to have had the same dream. In it, everyone was killed by an indescribable creature.
Seeing the victims' minds hanging by a thread, Batman quietly marked the person behind it all as highly dangerous.
Then, at a party that very evening, Bruce was dragged into the nightmare along with a supervillain who had broken into the event.
Player: ?
Player: What nightmare? I was just inviting you all to a tabletop role-playing game.
In the nightmare (Player: Hey!), everyone is given a new identity and new abilities, and using those abilities depends on dice rolls.
The old man, who can dodge anything in real life, rolls a failure on his dodge check in the game: ...
Player: You made your own character sheet and rolled your own dice. How is that my fault?
In the dream, the Batfamily also encounters several strange people with plenty of experience.
A psychologist with no professional ethics is silver-tongued, but can't hide how much of a jerk he is or how good he is at putting on an act.
An unemployed drifter with no fixed home is impossible to predict, and sometimes makes strange noises.
A music student on a long leave of absence mutters to himself now and then, prompting jokes that he seems like a patient with split personalities.
There is also an antiques dealer, a police officer, the CEO of a company that does business with Wayne Enterprises, and more. One of them is even a Justice League member personally vetted by Batman.
They call themselves investigators and say they've played this insane game many times before.
The Batfamily finds those experienced investigators in the real world, only to discover that they seem to have countless connections to the youngest Wayne daughter, who was only recently brought back into the family.
Player: I never met anyone who could play with me for more than a few rounds, so I had to let my character sheets keep me company.
Synopsis Two
Player Wayne already knew she was Gotham's darling's biological daughter, but she wasn't eager to reunite with him, until an accident led her old man to discover her.
Player, who had been plotting to have one of her character sheets adopt her: Fine, I'll go experience what it's like to be in a normal family.
And so...
The Batfamily keeps throwing listening devices and tracking devices at one another.
Player: I learned that one.
And so Gotham's vigilantes keep getting the feeling that some creepy presence is watching them.
The Batfamily is bad at expressing themselves. Even if the sky is falling, their mouths will still get in the way.
Player: I know that one.
And so the big blue bird, worried about his little sister, discovers that she's introverted and doesn't like talking to people. Even with him, she can end a conversation within three lines of it starting.
The Batfamily is all about "a loving father and filial children, brothers who care for one another."
Player: Hmm, I'm not in great shape, but that's fine.
And so a previously unknown supervillain appears in Gotham. She laughs at Nightwing's costume, steals the tires from Red Hood's motorcycle, breaks Red Robin's staff, mocks Robin for being too short, and fights Batman from the east side of the city to the west.
A character sheet with something resembling a normal person's mindset slowly types out a question mark: Did the player put all her social skills into her character sheets while making them?
Besides all that, Player has also heard that learning more about your family helps you communicate better.
Player: Got it. I'll arrange it now.
Player starts a group chat: Which of you is free to meet our family in the real world?
KP: I see them every day.
Character Sheet One, the music student with a split personality, says he just went through a round of emergency punches and has been admitted to the ICU.
Character Sheet Two, who's submitting a resume to Arkham, says he's met them, and almost stabbed the Joker to his face. Maybe next time.
Character Sheet Three, who has only just begun to look human, says he's met them, and they even got into a fight.
Character Sheet Four, who somehow became a Justice League member, says he's off-world, and the old man is right beside him. Don't call on him.
Player: It's so nice that you're all getting along so well.
KP: ...Are you sure?
P.S.
※ OOC warning
※ A selfcest story. The pairing is the first character sheet made by the protagonist, namely KP Kepu'er.
※ The romance is a small part of the story. Most of it is about tabletop role-playing. There will probably be scenes of the character sheets getting affectionate with the player. KP has a whole meadow of grass over his head (just kidding).
※ The Batfamily's familial bonds are the focus.
※ Not friendly toward supervillains. Even fake madness has to become real madness.
※ The protagonist is a little crazy, but has a fairly high moral threshold (probably). She's chaotic good.
※ The character sheets (secret identities) are not all purely human.
※ Her identity is never exposed, but the player will be given the identity of an investigator.
※ Call of Cthulhu seventh edition rules plus lots of house rules. A simplified version will be posted in the author's note of Chapter One.
※ May include a sharpshooter who hurts teammates, players exchanging wild punches as a show of courtesy, healers using emergency punches, and more. It all depends on the dice goddess's will.
Theme: Care about children's mental health.
