Becoming a Couch Potato, Understanding Couch Potatoes

Wu Jiu read a modern urban fantasy novel about supernatural events and a triumphant male lead. It featured a cannon-fodder character with the same name as him, whose ridiculously cool setup made him seem like the template for an invincible power fantasy protagonist.

On the day this cannon fodder was born, a powerful fortune-teller read his fate and declared that he was the reincarnation of a virtuous soul who had done good deeds for a hundred lifetimes. He was born surrounded by purple auspicious energy and protected by merit, destined for a life of wealth and fortune, free from illness and disaster, and blessed with smooth sailing. He was a Child of Destiny. The Wu family doted on Wu Jiu, raising him to be arrogant and conceited, and letting him cause trouble everywhere.

As a dirt-poor orphan with no family, Wu Jiu couldn't help leaving a comment expressing his envy. The very next day, he was hit with a dimensional downgrade and became the fictional cannon-fodder Wu Jiu from the book.

Wu Jiu burst into tears. He wasn't jealous, not even a little! The cannon fodder's whole family would die horribly later on! Why? Because... all the luck he had was stolen from the protagonist!

·

To live to a ripe old age, Wu Jiu decided to be a couch potato and stay out of trouble. He would be a well-behaved background character and wait for the protagonist to come reclaim the luck that belonged to him.

Much later, the protagonist showed up and decided that getting his luck back wasn't enough. He wanted interest, too, so he took Wu Jiu along with the luck.
