Taki-kun Refuses to Be a Detective

Taki, formerly known as Edogawa Ranpo, should have been the world-famous greatest detective in a certain world. But due to circumstances beyond his control, he lost his name and future, and then a crafty man in an iron mask whisked him away...

Checker Face: "I can take you in in this world, but that's all."

The blue-eyed kitty was deeply suspicious. "You don't look like a good person. Why are you helping me?"

Checker Face: "It's an equivalent exchange."

Taki the kitty: "Sounds like a lot of trouble, but I'll agree anyway."

After being entrusted to the Vongola and raised there for several years, the kitty packed up and went to Japan to explore the new world.

Hayato Gokudera looked at the table piled with desserts, unable to bear the sight. "...So what are you planning to do?"

The sugar-loving kitty raised a paw with a perfectly serious expression. "Set up a Vongola branch in another world!"

Hayato Gokudera perked up. "Exactly! So first, we..."

Taki the kitty smiled brightly. "Let's call the police!"

Hayato Gokudera: "???"

Taki's little schemes were clicking away: take down the crab-legs organization, seize its assets, then buy up its territory! Make it a Vongola base!

The first time he ran into a case in Beika Town, Taki didn't think much of it. But after the second and third cases, he glanced at Hayato Gokudera in confusion. "Is this place cursed?"

Gokudera, who'd been dragged into being his assistant, was at a loss for words. "Didn't you say you were super capable?"

The kitty answered with utter confidence. "Being super capable doesn't mean I know everything!"

Watching him show up time and again and solve cases in an instant, the short, stout police inspector remarked, "A great detective has appeared in Beika Town."

Taki: I don't want to be a detective.

Some time later, a black-haired officer from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, there to assist, tactfully said, "Mr. Taki, you're very capable, but you still need to go to school. After all, you're still in middle school, right?"

The kitty angrily pulled out his university diploma. "I'm a genius! I graduated ages ago!"

[Things to Know Before Reading]

* This is an alternate version of my Kamunashi story. I originally planned for Ranpo to have his identity stolen in that story, so this is a reboot of that idea.

* My version of Ranpo: his basic personality is unchanged, but his behavior and way of handling things are very different.

* Ranpo has almost no tragic experiences in this story (emphasis on this). He's doted on by everyone! Doted on by everyone! Doted on by everyone! (Important things are said three times.)

* In my headcanon, Ranpo's mother had the surname Taki. Although Checker Face brought him here, he still has no name, so, like Kazekaze, his name is just one character.

1. The CP will most likely be Reborn. For now, I'll write it that way.

2. The author's not very smart, so don't look for logic in this story.
