[Honkai: Star Rail] Is This Game Even Serious?

"Relationships between men and women in this world are a complete mess!"

Opening line of Galaxy Grand Stage

In the interstellar age, cyber technology advances at a rapid pace, and the entertainment industry changes by the day. In 80XX, the full-dive game Galaxy Grand Stage burst onto the scene. Players from across the universe could join, meet, get to know, and fall in love with strangers from billions of light-years away, and share an extraordinary fantasy life together.

Veteran author Hai Xiao, pen name Hailing Xiaoxiaosheng, has spent a century immersed in classical literature and scoffs at this kind of trendy entertainment:

"This is basically an orgy, isn't it?"

But fate had other plans. To finish her new book, Hai Xiao accepted a commission from a publisher and headed into the game world to find inspiration.

There, she travels through all kinds of game scenarios and meets players from countless planets:

A workaholic general, eight hundred years old and still pulling overtime;

A good-for-nothing young leader who runs naked through the streets;

A spicy teacher who bounces around from the heavens to the underworld;

A haughty, aloof hunter who stays true to his principles through life and death.

In this world, every player is assigned a new role. Enemies become lovers, best friends become father and son, no one can tell who's paired with whom or who gave birth to whom.

The game instances they experience together grow more bizarre and twisted with every turn, giving Hai Xiao an endless supply of inspiration, including but not limited to:

"Shocking! Reborn as the Overbearing General's White Moonlight: She Runs, He Chases, and Even Her Star Destroyer Can't Get Away!"

"Breaking! The Guardians of the Pengalle Family Turn Against Each Other, All Because He Killed Her Other Him!"

"Tragic! I Have to Love You Even in Death: The Entire Jujutsu World Regrets It After I Become a Special-Grade Cursed Spirit!"

"Unbelievable! I'm Going to Turn the Entire Universe Into One Big Orgy!"

Editor: "Your new book is very original, but isn't the plot a little too explosive? It could be seen as defaming the leaders of several planets, including your friends..."

Hai Xiao: "Oh, my friends said my defamation is way ahead of its time and told me to write more. They said I shouldn't spare a single planet. Relationships between men and women in this world should be a complete mess."
