After the Wedding of Good Fortune, My Frail Husband and I Reclaimed the Wasteland

Ye Shukui transmigrates into a book.

The original heroine refuses to marry the landlord's sick son to bring him good luck, and elopes with her childhood sweetheart under the moonlight.

She works hard to support her sweetheart through the imperial exams. He marries a noblewoman, while she is condemned as an adulteress and thrown into a pig cage.

Then she'll marry the sick man to bring him good luck.

The whole village expects her to become a widow.

But three months later, the sickly man is healthy enough to walk the fields with Ye Shukui and look at the wheat she planted.

A year later, a hundred acres of barren hills have become terraced fields, and the corn stalks grow taller than people.

Three years later, a thousand acres of swamp have become raised fields, and their impoverished town has earned a reputation as a land of fish and rice.

What about her childhood sweetheart?

Without the money she used to provide, he can't even afford three meals a day. How could he find time to study?

He hasn't even passed the county-level scholar exam yet. Now he's helping out in her raised fields, digging up taro!

Later, when someone called Ye Shukui a bride brought in to bring her husband good luck, her husband got into a fight with them.

Ye Shukui hurried over to break it up. "They just don't understand. What we have is a marriage that turned into love."

Moral: Even in desperate circumstances, life can take a turn for the better.
