The Nineteenth-Century Real Estate Tycoon

When Adele transmigrated into the slums of nineteenth-century London, struggling to survive, she was crammed into a five-square-meter attic, its roof collapsing under heavy white snow.

Outside her window, a baron was remaking London on a grand scale. Tree-lined boulevards stretched ever farther, brand-new apartment buildings rose one after another, and speculating nobles grew rich overnight.

Meanwhile, her family of five worried every week about paying three shillings in rent. In winter, they couldn't even afford the yellow coal they needed to keep warm.

Adele saw an opportunity. In an era of rampant capital and skyrocketing land prices, information asymmetry was gold.

Her first goal was to do whatever it took to move into the even smaller, shabbier room next door, which happened to sit right at the edge of the planned development zone. Then, step by step, she would trade up for bigger and more houses...
