The law firm took on a case involving a deaf and mute client, and the junior assistant, Zhang Jun, was tasked with finding a sign language interpreter for his boss.
Sign language teachers were easy enough to find, but where could he find one who also knew the law?
Just as Zhang Jun was tearing his hair out, he got into a car accident. As luck would have it, the mishap solved his problem.

The roads were slippery in the rain, and Yu Yan accidentally scraped a stranger's car. He refused to let her pay for the damage and even called her his savior.
To make it up to him, Yu Yan sold her services to the law firm, working part-time as sign language interpreter for its boss, Li Yangen.
But the junior assistant hadn't mentioned that the boss was so difficult to deal with: a perfectionist, aloof and sharp-tongued, and impossibly fussy.
"Your taste in clothes is terrible. Did you transmigrate here from the eighties or nineties? How can I meet clients with you dressed like that?"
"Why are your cuticles ragged? It's unsightly. Cut them."
"The water temperature for the coffee is wrong. Pour it out."
"The document format is wrong, and so is the table. Are you waiting for me to fix it for you?"
With a mind to paying off her debt, Yu Yan put up with each complaint.
One day, she was in the office drawing an educational comic about the law for a client, using the man across from her as a model. He suddenly turned to her and said coldly, "No woman who's tried to pursue me has ever succeeded. I suggest you stop wasting your time on that and focus on helping the client understand our analysis. Besides, I don't date people from the office."
Yu Yan: ?
She couldn't put up with being falsely accused like that. Once the case was over and her debt paid, she handed in her resignation.
The next day, the man stared at the resignation letter on his desk, stunned for a long time.
He sent her a message, only to see a red exclamation mark pop up.
His friend mercilessly mocked him: "Stunned, are you? That's what you get for acting like that."
After a few peaceful days, Yu Yan spotted her fussy former boss pacing back and forth outside her apartment building one evening.
She pretended not to see him and walked into the building with her head down.
A moment later, someone grabbed her arm. The man stumbled over his words. "...The firm has taken on a few more cases involving deaf and mute clients. We need you to interpret. I'll double your pay."
Yu Yan typed on her phone: I said in my resignation letter that I didn't want you bossing me around and picking on me anymore.
Li Yangen: "...If you were the boss's wife, you could pick on me instead..."
Yu Yan: ?

When the law firm heard Yu Yan and the boss were dating, everyone was so shocked their jaws hit the floor. They bet the relationship wouldn't last a month.
But within days, they realized something was off.
In a meeting, the boss tore Yu Yan's proposal to shreds. Her coworkers bet they'd break up that very night.
But after the meeting, someone outside the boss's office heard him apologizing in a low voice. "Baby, I'm sorry. Please talk to me..."
Coworkers: Boss, you did nothing wrong! We're the ones who were wrong! Can we still cancel our bets?!
