/ Childhood friends | Marriage first, love later | He has a secret crush | Four-year age gap

Lu Yuxi grew up with Xu Song'an, who was four years older than her. They were childhood sweethearts.

The Lu and Xu families had always been close, and after Lu Yuxi graduated, the elders decided to put their marriage alliance on the agenda.

But Lu Yuxi went straight to work at a local TV station, while Xu Song'an stayed in Yancheng and steadily took over the family business.

They lived thousands of kilometers apart, and the marriage alliance fell through.

Two years later, Lu Yuxi returned to Yancheng to work at the central television station. The first thing she did was attend the welcome-home banquet her family had prepared, only to discover that Old Master Lu had carefully arranged a blind date for her.

She couldn't keep putting it off forever, so Lu Yuxi went to Xu Song'an and asked if their old marriage arrangement could still go ahead.

A flicker of surprise crossed Xu Song'an's eyes. He didn't answer right away, but asked, “Do you really want to marry me?”

Lu Yuxi nodded without hesitation.

Xu Song'an's expression turned complicated. “...Why?”

Lu Yuxi winked at him, perfectly sincere. “Why settle for a wildflower when you can have one from your own garden?”

To Lu Yuxi, Xu Song'an was the ideal marriage partner: she knew him inside and out. But... married life wasn't quite what she had imagined.

Lu Yuxi thought she knew Xu Song'an well enough, until she woke up with an aching back and sore waist for the umpteenth time and finally realized:

All that calm self-restraint and gentlemanly decorum of his had been an act!

Xu Song'an didn't deny it. He simply lowered his eyes and focused on massaging her calves to help her relax. Hearing her words, he curved his lips into a faint smile, took her hand, and pressed an exquisitely tender kiss to it.

“Mm, you're right, honey.”
