The Ugly Slave

A Chou's master was a renowned physician from the previous dynasty. Because of the conflicts in the martial world, he had no choice but to retire to the mountains.

The land had once belonged to no one. After her master secluded himself there, it became known as Medicine Master's Cliff.

One snowy, bitterly cold winter, her master found A Chou in the snow and brought her home. From a tiny, hungry infant, he raised her little by little into adulthood.

The red blotches covering A Chou's face were all because, as a child, she had been greedy and taken the wrong medicine.

The woodcutter at the foot of the mountain was her master's close friend. The old woodcutter had a grandson who grew up with A Chou and did whatever she told him.

One day, amid a violent storm, he knocked on the door of the medicine hut late at night. From then on, they let the wolf in.
