Atobe Seiichi is the second son of the Atobe family, one of Japan's three top financial conglomerates. His father is Atobe Keigo, and his older brother, Atobe Kiyokazu, is the next heir to the Atobe conglomerate. The family's business spans the whole world.
Before he was in a car accident while rushing to gather for a competition, he wasn't very different from the other students who wanted to become professional table tennis players.
The only real difference was probably that his family was very rich, his father was Atobe Keigo, and his brother was the next heir to the conglomerate.
As the younger son, he didn't have to be groomed as an heir from childhood like his older brother. Since he wasn't expected to inherit the family business, the standards he had to meet weren't as strict. But he had a lofty goal: to follow in the footsteps of Uncle Yukimura, the world's number one, and become the world's top professional table tennis player.
As for why he didn't choose tennis, perhaps it was because every uncle around him was either a professional tennis player or a tennis coach. Even his father had once been a tennis club captain. If he chose tennis too, there would be no challenge in it.
So he chose table tennis, a sport much like tennis, yet completely different.
But after waking up from the car accident, he finds himself back in the era when his father was in middle school. Following his memories, he finds his father's old school, Hyotei Academy, and sees a shrunken version of his "father" standing on the dais, snapping his fingers and grandly announcing to everyone that he will be Hyotei Academy's emperor from now on.
Facing a "father" almost his own age, and seeing a face that resembles his own in six ways out of ten, Seiichi can't help touching the beauty mark at the corner of his eye and falling silent.
His father has always seemed mature and dependable, and so has his older brother. But how could his father have been so chuunibyou in middle school?
To find out why his father's personality is so "split," Seiichi decides to join the tennis club for now. He knows that, back in middle school, his father was one of the four famous club captains alongside Uncle Yukimura. His father was popular and talented, but gave up tennis in high school to focus on his studies.
Although his goal is to become the world's number one professional table tennis player, he's also studied tennis, taught by none other than Uncle Yukimura, the world's best. So he should be able to earn a spot among the tennis club's regulars.
But during the three years he spends trying to understand why his father's middle-school personality was so "split," Seiichi, nicknamed "Little Atobe" after becoming a regular, seems to figure out why his father was so chuunibyou back then, especially when he runs into Uncle Yukimura, the others, and Uncle Tezuka.

[Important notes:]
(1) There will be two worldlines.
(2) Seiichi's tennis is taught one-on-one by professional Yukimura. Although his goal is to become the world's number one like professional Yukimura, table tennis is still what he's best at.
(3) Since Seiichi's tennis teacher is professional Yukimura, Seiichi's tennis style has some of Yukimura's influence (specifically, the playing style of adult Yukimura).
(4) There will be wins and losses on both sides. Rikkai has a sixteen-match winning streak in the Kanto region, but does not win the national championship three times in a row (if this bothers you, definitely proceed with caution!!!!)
(5) More details to come...
