The General and the Beauty [Next Book]

Jiang Lingxiu didn't want to marry Shen Zhixing. She had a man she wanted to marry, and he had a moonlight he couldn't forget.

She found him too burly and rough, and disliked the smell of sweat on him after he practiced martial arts. So when he left for the border on their wedding night, Jiang Lingxiu was happy.

Three years passed. They exchanged only a few letters and never met again, and Jiang Lingxiu had almost forgotten he existed.

Who knew disaster would strike her family? Her father was thrown into prison, and she had no choice but to remember her husband. That's right, she still had a husband she hadn't seen in three years who could help her.

Jiang Lingxiu traveled alone to the frontier to seek his aid, but her journey got off to a bad start. Bandits attacked her halfway there, robbing her of her money and leaving her penniless. Fortunately, she met a kind-hearted hunter who offered to escort her.

Afraid he might run off along the way, Jiang Lingxiu promised him a reward. "My husband has quite a reputation in the army. Keep me safe, and once we reach the border, I'll make sure you're well paid."

The hunter seemed uninterested and casually asked, "Can you find me a pretty young lady like you?"

"Don't even think about it."

After a bumpy journey, they finally reached the military camp. From a distance, Jiang Lingxiu saw someone walking toward her. He was tall and burly, walked with his feet turned out, and his clothes were caked in dirt. A light slap would have sent clouds of dust flying.

Jiang Lingxiu frowned in distaste. Wasn't this the husband she hadn't seen in three years?

She forced a smile and ran over to tug at his sleeve. Under his shocked gaze, she told him how much she'd missed him.

"We've been apart for three years, and I've thought of you every day. At last, I've found you, General. You must have suffered."

The deputy general couldn't bear to watch and reminded her, "Madam, General Shen is over there. You've got the wrong person."

Huh?

Jiang Lingxiu swallowed her tears and turned around. Wasn't that the hunter who'd escorted her here? He was the general?

Before she could sort out her thoughts, the deputy general gave her another piece of bad news: the general had forgotten that he was married to her and thought the moonlight who had married someone else was his wife.

Jiang Lingxiu: ...

So Shen Zhixing had forgotten she even existed?
