My Dad Is Reborn

[Marriage Before Love]

Lin Yulan has her heart set on becoming a prince's consort, but her father must have lost his mind, because he insists she marry a lowly household guard. He's crude, barely literate, and looks at her as if he wants to eat her alive. She doesn't like him one bit.

On their wedding night, she warns him, "Don't come near me. Once my father agrees, we'll divorce."

Zhao Yuncheng looks at her quietly, his eyes deep. "All right."

That very night, he writes up a divorce agreement to put her mind at ease.

In his previous life, Lin Dehai was framed. Not only did he die, but his whole family was also arrested and exiled, while his only daughter became someone else's concubine and died young.

Reborn, he is astonished to discover that the future Duke of Huguo, a man who will one day hold great power, is currently a lowly household guard in his home.

Thinking of the power the man will wield in the future, Lin Dehai decides he can protect the Lin family. So he acts first and marries his daughter off to him, sending her into the bridal sedan no matter how much she cries and protests.

Later, the Lin family escapes disaster, and Zhao Yuncheng rises to great power. Everyone says Lin Dehai had a good eye and found himself a fine son-in-law.

Lin Dehai secretly wipes away his sweat. The Lin family is safe, but his daughter is suffering. She's always crying or throwing a fit.

Ah, look at her. Lin Yulan has just gotten out of the carriage, her eyes red and tearful. She's upset again.

"You're not allowed to come back to our room tonight," she says angrily.

They're sleeping in separate rooms again.

Lin Dehai finally can't stand it anymore. He takes his son-in-law aside and cautiously suggests, "I didn't think things through back then, and I didn't consider your feelings. A forced match won't bring happiness. Why don't you two... get a divorce?"

Zhao Yuncheng wipes his lips. "I won't divorce her."

Lin Dehai is alarmed. If he won't divorce her, is he going to repudiate her instead?
