If My Mom Hadn't Married My Dad

In my eyes, my mom has all kinds of wonderful qualities: she's optimistic, ambitious, resilient, hardworking, and kind.

I inherited almost none of them.

She's also one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my ordinary life.

But I'm not good-looking, so it's obvious whose fault that is.

I think many mothers in the world can't compare to her, though there must also be many mothers just as wonderful.

Her life choices involved plenty of twists of fate and wrong turns.

I think my dad was one of them.

Obviously.

I don't think my dad was good enough for my mom. She deserved someone better, even if that meant I wouldn't exist.

So whenever my mom reminisces about the past, I listen and think...

I wish my mom hadn't married my dad.

Theme: Her life is both brilliant and full of regrets.
