The Gentleman’s Path to Darkness

[Melodrama! Melodrama! An overwhelming torrent of melodrama!!!]

Blurb One:

Word had it that a young gentleman from the capital had moved into an estate outside town that had been vacant for a long time.

Gu Zhuochun sneaked over the wall to catch a glimpse. As she leaned over the top, she met the gentleman's gaze.

He didn't scold her. Instead, he smiled warmly at her, his eyes crinkling.

Gu Zhuochun thought, He really is a gentle and refined young gentleman.

Only later did she learn that he was a madman, a devil, and the nightmare that jolted her awake in the middle of the night.

"I could hide you away for three months this time. Next time, I can keep you imprisoned for three years."

Blurb Two:

On the Shangsi Festival in the fourth year of Jingxing, Gu Zhuochun and Ji Nianzhi went boating during the day. She confessed her feelings to him and poured out her heart.

But after all the servants in the room had withdrawn, the door, which should have remained open, suddenly shut. Gu Zhuochun grew uneasy, but she still waited for Ji Nianzhi to answer.

Instead, Ji Nianzhi stroked her cheek, bent down, and kissed and bit her lips roughly. A moment later, he called her by her childhood nickname in a gentle voice: "A Ling, what does it feel like to kiss your elder brother?"

Gu Zhuochun's face went pale. At last, she understood.

Ji Nianzhi's seduction of her was revenge against her mother.
