[My other novel, A Fortunate Marriage, is now updating on my homepage. There's plenty to read, so dive in!]
A combative couple, reunited from the very first chapter
Cool, stunning AI goddess vs. bad-boy, handsome top-tier star
In their senior year of high school, the winds in Shanghai were cold.
When Zhuo Ran was falsely accused, even her own mother sided with an outsider. Watching the absurd scene unfold with cold eyes, Zhuo Ran felt her heart turn colder still.
She never expected that the sharp-tongued boy she had once clashed with at every turn would be the only one to stand behind her and help her dispel the rumors.
When Zhuo Ran asked him why, he gave her a roguish smile. His eyelids drooped, his expression as carefree as ever. "Only I get to bully you. No one else is allowed to so much as touch your shadow."
But no matter how sincere the vows, they could not escape a love that was deep, but ill-fated.
Winter in Shanghai usually begins with rain.
That year, on the day winter began, Zhuo Ran started letting go of Sheng Yuan.
*
Six years later, Zhuo Ran unexpectedly lost her sight.
A friend sent her a "Sweetheart Boyfriend" companion robot to look after her.
Its voice was mechanical and cold, but it always managed to surprise her:
It did push-ups while carrying her, put on beautiful makeup so the "blind girl" could go out in style, and even knew how to feed her and sweet-talk her to sleep.
But it all came with a condition: "Give me a kiss."
Zhuo Ran frowned. "Taking care of your girlfriend needs conditions?"
The robotic voice replied, "Exactly. And kissing your boyfriend doesn't need conditions, either."
"..."
In the dark, Zhuo Ran felt her way toward "his" face, leaning in like someone about to nuzzle a cat.
He wasn't human anyway, so what did it matter who she nuzzled?
Until the night her sight returned:
She watched as a ridiculously handsome man wearing a voice changer, after she kissed his left cheek, expertly turned his right cheek toward her too.
Zhuo Ran: "...?"
Furious at being fooled for so long, Zhuo Ran gave him a thorough beating.
Once she had vented and calmed down,
he caught her wrist and pulled her hard into his arms. He lowered his eyes and gazed at her for a long time, then finally asked just one question:
"So why did you leave without a word back then?"
Imperfect characters, one-on-one, both pure, happy ending; angst first, sweetness later
My other novel, A Fortunate Marriage, is on my homepage. Please add it to your collection!
Yun You first met Bo Sinian at an engagement banquet.
The man wore a white Zhongshan suit embroidered with green bamboo. Refined and gentle, he walked beside her aunt-in-law.
A perfect match, they were showered with blessings.
At the time, someone had pushed her into the pool, leaving her in a sorry state. He ordered a servant to bring her a blanket.
Under the brilliant sunlight, she looked up at the raised platform. Amid all those people, only he seemed to glow with a warm, golden light.
*
Five years later, they met again at a hillside club.
The man wore a black Zhongshan suit embroidered with a black dragon. Thin and stern, he now carried a black-and-gold cane in his left hand.
They brushed past each other at the entrance. He got into a Maybach and disappeared into the vast rain and mist.
Her old motorcycle wasn't allowed inside, and she arrived five minutes late. Their blind date ended badly.
Yun You smiled silently. Their social standing was so different that she hadn't expected much anyway.
*
Bo Sinian didn't announce his marriage until nine months after they registered it, and his bride was from a younger generation in the family.
The social circle was in an uproar. Everyone said he was just placating his family and that the marriage wouldn't last.
Especially once they heard that Yun You was an easygoing painter.
After all, Bo Sinian was extremely strict, scheduling his time down to the second.
But people waited and waited, and the couple never divorced. Instead, Bo Sinian started coming home earlier and earlier, and going to fewer and fewer social engagements.
When his childhood friend came to ask about it, Bo Sinian was still too busy to pay him any attention.
But if asked, "Why is the last line of your schedule covered in cartoon animals?"
Bo Sinian would briefly set his work aside, his eyes full of warmth. "My wife gets to decide when I finish work."

- I spent the first half of my life following every rule. You're the only rebellion my youth arrived too late to have.
- Male lead, 29; female lead, 23. He was only engaged to her aunt-in-law for business reasons. One-on-one, both pure, happy ending.
- The male lead has a minor injury to his right leg, but can walk without a cane (and has excellent stamina, ahem).
Theme: May none of us be left with regrets!
Ahhhhhhhhhh it's killing me
