Xie Hangjin was the only son born from the union of two prominent families in Beijing and Shanghai. Ever since birth, he had been the envy of everyone around him, adored wherever he went.
Everyone who knew Xie Hangjin thought that someone as blessed as he was would have a smooth life and never suffer the slightest hardship. Then Jiang Chuwei came along.
He took a hard fall over her and learned firsthand just how painful love could be.
While dating Jiang Chuwei, whenever Xie Hangjin chatted with his friends, two out of every three things he said were about her. She was his lock screen, and she appeared all over his social media apps.
Their friends knew how sweet their relationship was, and just how much Xie Hangjin loved Jiang Chuwei. But their family backgrounds were worlds apart. Their friends never spoiled his mood to his face, but privately, they all agreed that the relationship could not last. At most, they would date for a while. Marriage was out of the question.
Not long after they graduated from college, word got around that Xie Hangjin and Jiang Chuwei had broken up. No one was surprised. It seemed only natural.
Unexpectedly, at a gathering, someone got drunk and brought up Jiang Chuwei, criticizing her for not being good enough for Xie Hangjin. He should have dumped her long ago, the person said. Why had he wasted so much time and effort on her?
Before he could finish speaking, a splash of expensive red wine came flying from nowhere and drenched his face. He was about to lose his temper when he turned and saw Xie Hangjin, his face dark. His eyelids lowered, his gaze sharp, he said coolly, "She dumped me. Got a problem with that?"
The room fell silent. Everyone looked at one another, only now realizing that Xie Hangjin was the one who had been dumped.
From then on, no one dared mention Jiang Chuwei in front of him.
The poor guy was clearly still hung up on her after the breakup. Even though she had dumped him, he still couldn't bear to hear anyone say a bad word about her.

Jiang Chuwei never thought something as absurd as amnesia would happen to her. When she opened her eyes with memories that had stopped three years ago, she was in a hospital. A nurse asked for her family's contact information, but her family wasn't in Beijing, so she gave the nurse Xie Hangjin's number.
Before long, Xie Hangjin arrived, his face full of worry. It was obvious how much he cared about her, but for some reason, he only stood at the doorway, gazing at her from a distance.
Jiang Chuwei couldn't worry about anything else. She knew she'd been injured, and she felt so helpless all alone. The moment she saw Xie Hangjin, her vision blurred. Pouting pitifully, she reached out to him from across the room, asking for a hug. Her voice was choked with tears, halfway between a complaint and a coy plea. "Hangjin... You're finally here."
As time passed after losing her memory, Jiang Chuwei became more and more convinced that Xie Hangjin was acting strangely. He was still good to her, but he no longer clung to her, always kissing and hugging her like he used to. When she tried to get close to him, he would just stand there, almost bashful. Sometimes he even looked at her with a gaze tinged with resentment.
Jiang Chuwei thought she must have misunderstood. He loved her so much. How could he possibly hate her?
Sure enough, after she kissed him, his eyes were full of love for her again. After a passionate night together, all his strangeness vanished without a trace. He was even clingier and more lovesick than she remembered, wishing he could be glued to her every moment of the day.
