Qin Shi Huang Becomes Emperor Tang in Journey to the West

Qin Shi Huang, who had sought immortality in vain, transmigrated into the world of Journey to the West.

He became the Tang emperor of the Zhenguan era, Li Shimin, who had seized the throne after killing his elder brother.

Note: This is the Tang emperor in the world of Journey to the West, not the historical Emperor Taizong.

Looking at the copy of Journey to the West in his hands, Ying Zheng fell into deep thought.

So this was not only a world where gods and immortals were real, but also one where people could live forever?

Eating Tang Monk's flesh could grant immortality?

There was a Buddhist kingdom in the Western Heaven?

Once the scriptures were brought back, one could guide the dead to heaven, free the suffering from misery, and cultivate an immeasurable life?

Ying Zheng spent the whole night poring over Journey to the West. Then the journey to the West began...

A top scholar and his wife are sent to take up a post, but are murdered along the way. Their son is thrown into the river and becomes Jiang Liuer?

You might not believe this, but under the rule of Great Tang, laws are strict and people report one another.

The criminals haven't even made their move before someone reports them and they end up behind bars.

Li Shimin dreams of traveling to the underworld?

His soul drifts into the netherworld. Ying Zheng, already there, gives a scornful laugh.

"Yama, take a good look. Do you know who I am?"

Yama: I was just following orders to hook a soul and scare him a little, so the pilgrimage would go smoothly. Who knew I'd get shot in the arm, and then have the whole underworld turned upside down? Sigh, why did I say "again"?

With the fortune of the Ancestral Dragon, he will build an unrivaled immortal kingdom where everyone can become a dragon.

So, eighteen years later, when Guanyin arrives in Great Tang, she discovers that...

Within Great Tang's borders, immortals and gods are forbidden to travel.

Another year passes, looking east toward Great Tang

At Mount Ling

Buddha: Guanyin, by my reckoning, Tang Monk should have left Great Tang by now, right?

Guanyin: Not yet, dear~

Buddha: ???

Guanyin: But the Tang emperor, I mean, His Majesty the Prince of Qin, has an army that's almost at Mount Ling!

Many years later, Tang Monk says, "If we turn the whole world into Great Tang, how could the blessings of Great Tang fail to reach every corner of the world? If we conquer the Western Heaven, won't that mean we possess the Land of Ultimate Bliss?"
