Bad blood / Reunited after years apart
-
Cong Zhi gets into a fistfight with a fan at a music festival and ends up at the police station.
With exaggerated makeup on her face, she covers the bruise on her temple with one hand and clutches her bass with the other. She catches sight of the young officer taking her statement. The more she looks at him, the more familiar he seems.
When their eyes finally meet, a rush of hazy, unpleasant memories comes flooding back.
"It's you."
"It's you."
They speak at the same time.
The same summer breeze that once stirred the leafy shade across campus and carried the scent of grass and trees brushes against their faces again.
-
After leaving the station that night, Cong Zhi's friend asks her, "You seemed to really hate that cop just now."
"He was my classmate in high school. Such a pain, always dragging things out and going on and on," Cong Zhi grits her teeth. "I can't f***ing stand him."
-
The exact same conversation takes place at the police station.
A colleague asks Yu Zhuo, "Do you know that woman from earlier?"
Yu Zhuo says nothing.
"You seemed to dislike her."
Yu Zhuo gives a bitter smile and throws the paper cup Cong Zhi just drank from into the trash. A trace of her crimson lip tint remains on the rim. He looks away and sighs softly.
"I copied three years' worth of math notes for her. I planned to confess after the college entrance exams."
"And then?"
"She threw my notes into a public toilet by the road and flushed them."

A badass lead singer of a band and an equally badass police officer

Love is just a matter of one person bringing the other to heel.
After crossing swords with you ten thousand times, I'd gladly lose to you ten thousand and one.
