1.

Song Yihe was an orphan adopted by the Song family. Quiet and gentle, she was occasionally looked after by the old master, but otherwise no one paid her much attention. She was so invisible that she never fit in with the social circle.

She knew her place well:

After graduating from college, she would marry the young master of the He family in an arranged marriage.

He Jingshi was the youngest son of the He family, bright and handsome, and famous among the younger generation in Jiangbei for his good looks.

Song Yihe didn't know him well, but they had met twice.

The first time was on the school athletic field two years earlier.

Song Yihe had just returned to school after being hurt and was sitting in the bleachers, wiping her eyes. She looked up when she heard a commotion:

He Jingshi had just made a three-pointer from beyond the arc. He was full of youthful confidence as his friends laughed and joked, and he glanced her way without thinking.

The second time was during her senior-year internship.

Song Yihe submitted her resume to He Jingshi's studio. After the interview, someone accidentally spilled water on her clothes.

He Jingshi leaned against the doorway and handed her a tissue. "Here, wipe that off."

-

He was a fine young man, bright and honorable, and a good choice for a husband.

But an accident changed the person she was supposed to marry to He Jingshi's second brother, a notorious playboy.

With such a fine man as her first choice, Song Yihe finally worked up the courage to stop his car on a rainy night.

She stammered her way through what she had to say.

He Jingshi didn't agree right away. He just opened the car door, then raised his brows with interest before she leaned inside. "Think carefully. Once you get into my car, it won't be easy to get back out."

2.

He Jingshi had always known that his future wife was named Song Yihe.

When he was five, the little girl saw him for the first time and cried until her eyes were red. She was as interesting as a little rabbit.

After they married, whenever his friends brought up the arranged marriage, He Jingshi avoided the subject. But whenever they got together, he always left on the dot at nine.

His friend was puzzled. "Do you have such an early curfew?"

He Jingshi glanced at him. "Who the hell would dare not go home by nine?"

Seeing him like that, someone grew curious about Song Yihe.

As it happened, heavy rain caused a traffic jam that day.

A few friends drove him home. As soon as they unlocked the door, they heard the sound of bare feet running. A moment later, Song Yihe appeared in the distance, wearing her pajamas.

And He Jingshi, who used to look down on everyone, opened his arms slightly and said apologetically, "Traffic was terrible. Come here and give me a hug."

His friend was stunned. He Jingshi, don't you think you're being ridiculous?

But only He Jingshi knew that on that rainy night when luck finally came his way, he had solemnly written on the family marriage certificate:

May my wish come true. Happy wedding.
