In the year 4444, a large-scale disaster swept across the globe.
Tsunamis raged, typhoons tore through the land, volcanoes erupted...
Then the ground quickly collapsed, plants grew wildly, animals mutated, and paranormal phenomena became commonplace.
At the brink of life and death, a handful of lucky survivors evolved tenacious plant attributes, each gaining one of three abilities: attack, healing, or defense.
Jiang Wei had been sickly since birth, and his health deteriorated day by day as he fled through the apocalypse. Just as he was about to despair, a cold mechanical voice sounded in his mind:
[Beep! A strong desire to survive has been detected. Would you like to bind the Apocalypse Survival System?]
Jiang Wei had always known how to seize an opportunity, and answered almost without hesitation: "Yes."
Good news: After binding with the System, he gained a plant attribute, too.
Bad news: It was the special attribute of hypersensitive perception, so useless it was practically worthless. All it could do was let him sense danger in advance and hide.
Strangely, whenever his life was in danger, Jiang Wei would faint without warning.
When he opened his eyes again, he could sense that the area around him was terrifyingly safe.
In Jiang Wei's eyes, the System was nothing more than a program. It was all business, without a shred of emotion, and occasionally assigned unreasonable missions.
But Jiang Wei could feel his physical abilities getting stronger and the plant attribute he had gained improving.
Gradually, he realized that it seemed as if a great hand was manipulating everything behind the scenes, urging him to grow stronger quickly.
Then, at some point, something seemed to change. It was as if the System had suddenly gained a new lease on life, slowly becoming more human.
Bu Wang was the most powerful paranormal entity to emerge when the apocalypse began, but he had no physical form and thus desperately longed for a body.
After looking around, he took a liking to Jiang Wei's face.
Pale and delicate, with a pair of clear, clean mint-green eyes that utterly captivated him.
Unfortunately, his body was too weak.
After much thought, Bu Wang decided to personally create a body for himself, so he found a way to turn into the System and urged Jiang Wei to get stronger every day.
While attached to Jiang Wei, he saw many ignorant humans trying to move mountains with mayflies.
Whenever he saw them go up against overwhelming odds for the sake of their laughable feelings, he would sneer at them contemptuously.
At times like these, Jiang Wei, who was usually quiet and reserved, would actually speak up to argue with him, then join the ranks of the fools who overestimated themselves, until Bu Wang had no choice but to step in.
But little by little, he and Jiang Wei began to get along better and better, and they even grew perfectly in sync when working together.
Suddenly, Bu Wang no longer wanted Jiang Wei's body.
He left Jiang Wei and returned to the place where he had come into being.
Fortunately, he gained a physical form by absorbing mutated plants and animals.
But he had no idea that Jiang Wei was nearly driven mad after he disappeared.
Jiang Wei, the owner of a special plant attribute, was beloved and admired at the survivor base. Many people wanted to befriend him, and countless organizations tried to recruit him.
Unfortunately for them, he turned them all down.
Later, a young man with features as delicate as a porcelain doll was taken in by the base.
For the first time, people at the base saw Jiang Wei lose his composure as he cornered the young man: "Where have you been?"
Bu Wang blinked, trying to make an excuse. "Mr. Jiang, I don't think I know you."
"Oh, Mr. Jiang?" Jiang Wei chuckled, then swept him up in his arms and carried him toward his apartment. "I'm going crazy."
