The little crow Wu Yu is a spirit who gained humanlike intelligence after the founding of the nation. On reaching adulthood, he comes down from the mountains for the first time and, by sheer coincidence, ends up at the Institute for Paranormal Research.
Because Wu Yu's crow's-mouth predictions are too accurate and interfere with missions, he risks being fired and losing his job, which provides meals and lodging and even pays into his social insurance and housing fund.
To keep his job, Wu Yu decides to cozy up to the only other spirit at the institute: the captain of the Special Operations Division.
The captain is an old peacock, beautiful but short-tempered. He takes Wu Yu under his wing, treats the crow like a dog, and drags him across mountains and seas to catch spirits.
He works the little crow until he's a bald crow.
The old peacock doesn't believe in crow's-mouth predictions. "Come on, curse me. Let's hear it."
Wu Yu takes the opportunity to vent his resentment. "Captain, you'll get stomach trouble!"
The old peacock: Hah.
Then he really does get stomach trouble.

Bai Yao'an has worked for the Special Operations Division since the nation's founding. As the division's only spirit, he works diligently, doing the work of ten spirits all by himself, with no days off all year.
After submitting his request for the Nth time and threatening to quit if they didn't approve his leave, the institute finally sent him a partner: a naive, foolish crow.
The first time the little crow sees him, his eyes light up. "Wow, miss, you're gorgeous!"
Bai Yao'an puts up with it.
On their first mission together, the little crow jumps with him from a building dozens of stories high. They both get injured and are rewarded with time off.
Bai Yao'an puts up with it again.
On a business trip together, the little crow refuses point-blank to share a room with him. Bai Yao'an shows him his Adam's apple to prove he's a man. The little crow covers his eyes. "Don't look at what you shouldn't."
Bai Yao'an... Bai Yao'an can't take it anymore.
Hellish manager mode: activated.
The story of a veteran corporate slave spirit and a rookie spirit just starting out at work.
