Blurb

After his death, Toji Fushiguro became trapped by his son's side.

He took all kinds of forms, such as a shadowy canine shikigami, the reclusive neighbor next door, a cursed spirit mutated enough to develop thoughts, a Grade 3 sorcerer who seemed like an ordinary passerby, and an assistant supervisor at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Somehow, he always ended up running into Megumi Fushiguro.

Thanks to his son, Toji got to experience the benefits of having cursed energy, while watching Megumi grow from a little stone-faced kid into a cool, unsmiling young man.

As time passed, he gradually realized that the day he would leave was drawing near.

Then the Shibuya Incident arrived, and Toji's soul was pulled into a prepared vessel.

He had truly come back to life.

Ever since he was little, Megumi Fushiguro had felt that a strange creature was always appearing around him.

It had a different identity every time. Sometimes it was a sorcerer, sometimes an ordinary person, and sometimes even a talking cursed spirit. But Megumi could always recognize it.

Because of the scar on its face, which it could never quite hide.

Megumi always felt a strange familiarity with the man. They had no connection whatsoever, yet he always appeared to help at crucial moments, then left without explanation.

Megumi silently removed the negative labels he'd put on him. The man was unreliable, but completely unlike the scumbag father in his memories. Maybe he could be considered a good person?

By the time he grew up, Megumi was used to the man disappearing now and then, only to return by his side under a different identity.

But one day, while waiting as usual, Megumi suddenly realized that even after a long time, the familiar figure still hadn't appeared.

A strange restlessness took hold of him, even though he didn't know the man's real name.

The boy kept up a convincing facade, calm and composed as if nothing was wrong, hiding his endless wandering thoughts as he diligently handled each mission.

Then, entirely unprepared, he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

“You're so pathetic, kid.”
