S-Rank Beast Tamer: Starting with a Found Egg!

When Wen Ge woke up, he was a homeless man outside the Laiya Star Beast Arena Rescue Center.

Food and lodging were available at the relief center, but having no money was Wen Ge's biggest problem.

And the fastest way to make money on Laiya Star was to own a star arena beast.

Even the cheapest beast egg on the black market cost two thousand star coins, and it might hatch into a defective specimen.

Wen Ge returned from the black market empty-handed. Passing the rescue center, he happened to see the staff sending a pile of defective beast eggs off to be destroyed. One rolled right to his feet.

Wen Ge: ...We must be meant to be. I'll pick one up.

Sure enough, Wen Ge ended up with a cat-shaped beast that was as defective as they came. It had no metalization anywhere on its body, was fluffy and soft, and could only follow him around meowing and begging for affection.

Wen Ge figured, well, he couldn't exactly throw it away, could he? He'd just keep it.

It's only one extra mouth to feed, right?

With free nutritional powder from the relief center and the eggs he collected, Wen Ge, a certified chef, could whip up a roast that even nobles couldn't get their hands on.

The little cat grew bigger and bigger under his care, and less and less like a cat.

One day, Wen Ge opened his eyes to find that the cat had turned into a person.

That wasn't all. The aquatic beast he'd picked up had grown metallic scales, and the flying beast that had hatched with one missing wing now had a pair of all-metal wings...

Wen Ge said nothing. He just kept cooking and picking up more eggs.

A strange name appeared on the registration list for the latest Star Beast Championship:

Wen Ge.

A cat far too large, covered in fluff with not a hint of metalization. A merfolk beast that couldn't breathe underwater but could move freely on land. A flightless chicken-like flying beast that didn't like to fly, strutting around with gleaming wings and tail feathers...

With a whole group of defective beasts, he fought his way through the championship.

Reader's Guide:

1. Platonic relationship, friendship-focused. Only the first egg can turn into a person. It's not a cat, its name is just Xiao Mao'er.

2. The protagonist is a mom-friend type.

3. Every plot point exists to let the protagonist show off.

4. This is my take on beast taming, with lots of original worldbuilding. It's a very ordinary premise; I just wanted to write it because I haven't written this kind of story before.

Theme: If there's light in front of you, there must be darkness behind you.
