I Paint the Gods Among the Stars

College student Yu Qingru and her three roommates travel to the interstellar age, where humanity is helpless against the rampant insectoid race. To survive, people must obtain the power of the gods. For some inexplicable reason, the history of Chinese civilization has been erased, and without the protection of foreign gods, the Chinese have sunk to the bottom of the social hierarchy, forced to hide in underground cities where sunlight never reaches.

The way to gain the power of the gods is to slaughter insectoids and strengthen one's mental power. Once it reaches a certain level, one can draw special totems that channel divine power. These totems are called divine crests. Few Chinese people possess mental power, and without it they cannot slaughter insectoids or strengthen themselves. Their abilities can only deteriorate, trapping them in a vicious cycle.

Just as the Chinese are on the brink of extinction, Yu Qingru and her roommates arrive with uncontaminated fruits, vegetables, and grains; medicines that foreign races sell at astronomical prices; the history and civilization of China that had been erased; and the power of Chinese gods, which astonishes and enrages the foreign races with envy:

Arrows bearing Hou Yi Shoots Down the Suns crests can travel a thousand miles and shatter the insectoids' hard shells.

With a swing of a sword bearing the Nine Heavens Mysterious Maiden Slays Evil crest, insectoid corpses stretch as far as the eye can see in the direction it points.

Mechs bearing the Nüwa Mends the Heavens crest can command all things under heaven and earth. They can wipe out a swarm of insectoids in an instant.
