My Deskmate Is Sick

Sang Yu is the top student at No. 1 High School, and she’s beautiful, but cold-tempered and vicious in a fight. Thanks to her powerful “stay away from me” aura, she’s earned the title of “Top Badass at X City No. 1 High School.”

The school has even come up with a silly little rhyme about her: “On X City’s Seventeen Streets, don’t pick a fight unless you can take the heat. No breaks when fists fly, Lord Yu’s your dad, so don’t ask why!”

But where there’s a hidden dragon, there’s bound to be a hidden phoenix.

A new transfer student named Yan Xi joins the senior class. He’s sunny and handsome, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long legs. Too bad he’s not exactly bright: he’s got an unbelievable way of thinking and no shame whatsoever, a complete lunatic! Still, he makes a name for himself at No. 1 High School through sheer ability, earning the students’ vote as “Top Badass at X City No. 1 High School, No. 2.”

He even gets his own little poem: “That’s Brother Yan, tough as they come. He doesn’t say much, but he’ll beat you up. His mind’s not right, so don’t expect mercy.”

Ever since the two of them became deskmates, they’ve either been reading self-criticism essays every few days or getting called out for misconduct. Their way of getting along is also uniquely unhinged, leaving everyone in awe.

At first, each of them thought the other was crazy, so they agreed to go to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Afterward, they stared at each other in disbelief.

Top student Sang Yu: “The doctor said I’m bored, and recommended I buy a copy of 53 and work through it.”

Underachiever Yan Xi: “The doctor said I’m under too much pressure and recommended I stop studying.”

Sang Yu looked baffled. “You don’t even study. Where’s the pressure coming from?”

Yan Xi was just as confused. “You’re doing practice problems every day. How can you be bored?”

They looked at each other. “You’re crazy!”

Later, their classmates decided they were crazy.

Yan Xi, an underachiever, only wanted to get back the points he’d lost for going off-topic in his essay, so he spent every day in the dorm figuring out how to blow up the school!

Sang Yu, a top student, didn’t care about her grades. All she thought about was how to sneak out over the wall and drive an excavator!

Their classmates: “...” They really were crazy!

In the end, the entire school thought they were crazy.

During the sports meet, Sang Yu and Yan Xi strolled around as if they owned the place, with signs hanging around their necks. The principal had personally written eight big characters on them: “Fight and you’ll be made to stand. Please do not feed.”

Yan Xi gave a thumbs-up. “My fighting skills have official approval!”

Sang Yu put on her cool, indifferent face. “I’m hungry. Bring me two bowls of rice.”

Everyone at school: “...”

The principal’s furious voice boomed over the loudspeaker: “Both of you, stand at attention under the national flag! Act normal for once!”

Sang Yu and Yan Xi sighed quietly. “My deskmate just can’t act normal...”

Then one day, Yan Xi’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he stared unabashedly at Sang Yu’s pale neck. His voice was hoarse, his words a tender temptation. “A-Yu, can I bite you?”

Sang Yu: “?”

Yan Xi’s eyes burned with desire. “I want to bite your collarbone.”

Sang Yu guiltily turned her head away. “...You pervert! Shameless!”

Yan Xi chuckled softly. “That’s right, I’m shameless. You have to be shameless if you want to get yourself a wife.”

An Xi looks down. ...He’s been caught red-handed.

“Students aren’t allowed off campus during class,” Qi Yi says, his face expressionless and his voice low.

“Since when do you get to tell me what to do?” An Xi raises an eyebrow, hands in his pockets, looking cockier than ever.

Qi Yi pulls a plaque from his trouser pocket and calmly puts it on.

An Xi stares at the five words on it, “Student Council President.” ...He really does get to tell him what to do.

“Where are you going?” Qi Yi asks as he writes in the red disciplinary book.

“To work.”

“Be more specific.”

“To a bar. I’m selling drinks in women’s clothes.”

“How much for a night?”

“Five thousand.”

“Payment received: five thousand...” An Xi’s phone rings.

Qi Yi looks up at him coolly. “I’m hiring you for tonight.”

An Xi: “???”

As it turns out, Qi Yi makes him sit there and do math problems all night...

Then one day, Qi Yi takes something out, blushing, and says, “Could you... change into this?”

An Xi looks at the “bunny maid outfit” in Qi Yi’s hands. “...That’ll cost extra.”

And so An Xi spends the whole night doing physics problems in a bunny maid outfit.

Meanwhile, Qi Yi gazes at him dreamily. “So cute.”

An Xi suddenly curls his lips into a smile and traces a circle with his fingertip at the collar of Qi Yi’s uniform. In a soft voice, he says, “There’s something even cuter. Want to see?”

“I do...”

“That’ll cost extra.”

“I’ll give you my life.”

And so An Xi spends the whole night doing biology problems while calling Qi Yi “Daddy.”
