After graduating, Xiang Feisu moved to Qingnan with her family and reunited with her mother's longtime friend and her family.

The two families lived across the hall from each other, and the elders were eager to match Xiang Feisu with the friend's eldest son, Jiang Siqing. They regaled her with stories of the man's achievements.

He was twenty-eight, an extreme sports athlete with his own company and a string of accomplishments.

They also showed her a video of him standing on a surfboard, gliding effortlessly through a wave several meters high, grinning with carefree abandon.

The moment Xiang Feisu saw his face, her breathing slowed, and she pressed her lips together nervously.

After the gathering ended, Xiang Feisu was forced to walk home with Jiang Siqing. They said nothing the whole way.

Near her front door, Jiang Siqing suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her off guard into his arms.

"You never dated?" His breath reeked of alcohol, and his voice trembled slightly as he gritted his teeth.

He held her chin and made her look up at him.

He demanded, "Then what was that night?"
