Blurb:

After graduating from college, Pu Zhou followed his family’s arrangements and met the person he was supposed to marry.

The other man ran an entire company of business elites. He was tall, handsome, and elegant.

After the wedding, he worked long hours and was usually cool and restrained.

But at night, his frenzied demands were completely at odds with his respectable daytime appearance.

…

Pu Zhou had always thought his husband was strange.

For one thing, his husband seemed to have boundless energy and no need for sleep.

His body was cold, and every night it seemed to grow damp and slippery.

And… he seemed to have an endless fascination with Pu Zhou’s body.

Ever since that night, Pu Zhou had been having strange dreams.

Things coiled around his calves, waist, and… even more intimate places. They seemed like snake tails, but looked more like… the tentacles of some kind of mollusk.

When Pu Zhou woke with a start, his husband would always be watching him quietly.

Pu Zhou instinctively reached to touch the damp marks on his waist, but his husband took it as an invitation

“Want more?”

His husband’s icy hand lifted the hem of his shirt. His voice was calm, without the slightest inflection. “Come here.”

Even stranger things were happening around Pu Zhou.

For instance, inexplicable wet marks kept appearing along the edge of the bathtub, and in the middle of the night he’d hear indescribable whispers and murmurs by his ear…

But what Pu Zhou found even harder to bear than these bizarre events was his cold marriage.

The only time he and his husband seemed to interact was in that big bed.

Pu Zhou gave up without hesitation. Once their marriage contract had been in effect for a year, he filed for divorce.

And yet

The family doctor who came to examine him every day, the kind neighbor who always made strange pastries, even the gardener tending the flowers on the lawn all stared at him with the same obscure, feverish gaze.

Time stopped in an instant. Countless almost tangible gazes pressed down on him, as if weaving a cage around him.

Black tentacles spread beneath his husband’s bizarre body. Echoes came from every direction, as though millions upon millions of people were calling his name.

For the first time, Pu Zhou understood the meaning hidden in those indescribable sounds.

Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou

Little Zhou, Little Zhou, Little Zhou…

Could you… love me a little more today?

…

If the stars are willing to look upon me,

why should I resist the universe?
