Nine Years of Gu

Bai Jinhe transmigrates into a book, landing in an ancient-world, male-oriented leveling novel as a righteous big shot who gets killed off early to make the villain look good.

Bai Jinhe carefully thinks back over the book's plot.

Three halls stand in a tense balance, each harboring its own schemes.

Bai Jinhe belongs to the Poison Gu Hall.

Despite the sinister-sounding name, in the original book Bai Jinhe is an honest, straightforward man. He levels up and defeats one enemy after another, eventually making the Poison Gu Hall the foremost of the three. He also loves saving lives, always helping the weak.

Yet he gets killed by an obscure junior from the Evil Ghost Hall.

Because that junior is the villain, the greatest obstacle on the protagonist's path to ascension.

To make the villain look like a total badass, Bai Jinhe is killed off for nothing in the original book.

Then Bai Jinhe transmigrates into the book.

Fortunately, he arrives in the childhood of the original Bai Jinhe and gets to start over.

But then things take a turn.

Bai Jinhe, a modern-day alpha male, is busy scheming against the young master of the Evil Ghost Hall, Liang Zhugu, whom he thinks of as the original villain's grandpa. One little slip, and he finds himself falling for the guy.

Bai Jinhe takes a moment to sort out the relationships.

No matter how he works it out,

Liang Zhugu seems to be the villain's grandfather!?

-

Liang Zhugu can't shake the feeling that Bai Jinhe is plotting something.

Otherwise, why would Bai Jinhe suddenly go out of his way to hold his hand instead of poisoning him or setting a trap for him???

Otherwise, why would Bai Jinhe sneak into his room in the middle of the night, climb into his bed, and mutter about pinning him down???

Otherwise, why would Bai Jinhe, after sharing a bed with him, start trying to get one of the juniors in his hall to call him Grandpa????

How strange, how strange!
