Can't You Just Stick to the Script?!

Ye Wei is an NPC in an immersive BL game, assigned to play minor cannon fodder roles in low-level scenarios.

Ye Wei awakened.

After the System's routine cleanup, which took place every six months, Ye Wei woke up in a new assignment. The System sent him the script right away, and he clicked Skip Loading.

He had played the same script countless times. He knew the plot by heart, so there was no need to load the entire script and waste space in his digital brain.

Ye Wei played a cannon fodder character in "The Domineering CEO Falls for Me." Because he looked a little like the CEO's unattainable first love, the CEO kept him as a substitute for three years.

He was a tiny catalyst that helped the main couple's feelings deepen. He had just a few minor scenes to play, and all he had to do was stupid things, get humiliated in return, and make a dismal exit. The ending was, well, a little tragic...

Ye Wei dutifully followed the plot, but Jiang Muyan, the S-rank top in the CEO role, went off-script. He came out of the shower halfway through and used words and actions to hint that Ye Wei should fulfill his duties as a kept man.

Ye Wei panicked a little when he saw his co-star. As far as he knew, Jiang Muyan hadn't taken a script for a trashy C-grade drama in ages.

Besides, this was a squeaky-clean game where even kissing scenes were censored. Where would an adults-only feature come from? The top was supposed to remain chaste; an impure top would be scorned and flagged as a deal-breaker.

Ye Wei had complicated feelings. He had awakened because of Jiang Muyan. He fell in love with the person he'd worked alongside in the game over and over, and gradually began to develop a sense of self. From a certain point onward, the System stopped wiping his memories, and he began to remember everything he'd experienced.

Fully aware, Ye Wei repeated all kinds of idiotic plots countless times, and even found time to suffer a heartbreak that cut him to the bone. The person who had awakened and fallen in love with him had been formatted by the System again and again, falling in love with characters specified by the System and forgetting him.

After going through the same thing so many times, Ye Wei had long since become numb. Now, the way classmate Jiang looked at him was clearly not innocent. It was obvious he'd glitched again...

Once, Ye Wei wanted to take Jiang Muyan with him and escape the prison of the infinite loop. Now, he only wanted to look out for himself.

While juggling other scripts, Ye Wei discovered that Jiang Muyan wasn't the only lead straying from the plot. The other S-rank tops were starting to act out of character, too.

Ye Wei was fed up: Could they all just stick to the script? If your awakening progress bar isn't full, you might as well not awaken at all. Dragging things out like this will only slow down my escape.
