This is the story of a certain god and the divine child watched over by Them.
When the young Ranpo tripped while he was lost one day, his life took a sharp turn. He went from being the future world's greatest detective and the Armed Detective Agency's most treasured asset to becoming the beloved divine child of a certain conceptual god.
The god's followers treated him with reverent care, terrified that even a speck of worldly dust might sully the pure soul of the divine child.
The god's creations surrounded him, hiding their bloody smiles and filthy, slimy true forms. With sweet dreams and colorful lights, they built the divine child the warmest, coziest candy house.
Anything he wanted, he could have.
Anything he wished for, could come true.
That was the privilege granted to him by the god.
Even so, the divine child, already a complete winner in life, had worries just like any ordinary person. His biggest concern was how to finish updating The God's Nurturing Rules.
Because to Ranpo, the god was more than just a god. More importantly, the god was family, a friend, a companion, and someone with whom he shared all kinds of close bonds. He had created this rulebook simply so he could understand the god better and stay close to Them.
After all, he was the greatest divine child in the world. He had to be the strongest and the most amazing...
So, to gather the pages of the rulebook that had accidentally fallen into various worlds, Lord Ranpo set off on a new journey.
The first seven rules of The God's Nurturing Rules:
1. First, remember this: the hearts of all living creatures beat, their blood flows, and it is red.
2. Do not gaze directly upon the god's face. Do not speak the god's name aloud. When the god is present, everyone but the divine child must remain silent.
3. All children under the age of seven belong to the god.
4. Intense negative emotions, especially "pain" and "despair," can successfully draw the god's attention. "Death" cannot.
5. The god can grant any wish, without limitation as to its contents. However, the person making the wish must pay a disproportionate price of at least twice its value.
6. The god likes cleanliness and order, so the god's creations patiently clean themselves before and after meals.
7. In the god's presence, always be "humble" and "sincere," because "lies" are a sign of disrespect toward the god.
A few things to know before reading:
1. After becoming the divine child, Ranpo was raised entirely by the god's followers, creations, and so on, so there are many personal interpretations. His personality also gradually took on some of the god's traits (?) He's already mastered all kinds of ways to soothe the god.
2. The god isn't a good god. They're an evil god, an eldritch god, and a product of the author's personal tastes. So They aren't bound by human morals or values. Before meeting Ranpo, They were destroying the world (?). The power level is through the roof, and wherever They go, They become the strongest.
3. Some characters from the original work, especially villains, are treated unfavorably and may suffer psychological and physical harm. Please steer clear if that's not for you. After all, if Ranpo is capricious, then the god who indulges the divine child's whims is an even greater disaster when They get capricious (absolutely certain).
P.S. There may be intense out-of-character portrayals and lots of idealization. I started this story on a whim, so if that's not your thing, please don't read it!
Another P.S.: By the way, Ranpo is the top. Don't ask why. Since everyone thinks the eldritch god is the top, I had to do the opposite. Call it rebellion.
